July 1
Genevieve Redzikowski, 69, of Toms River, hit a car driven by Emily Freundlich, 19 of Wayne on Route 23 at 9:21 p.m. Redzikowski was traveling north in the southbound lane. She was issued a summons for traveling the wrong way on a one-way street and failure to observe a traffic control device. Both drivers were transported to Chilton Hospital with injuries.
Juan Romero, 33, of West Milford was traveling south on Morsetown Road at 10:53 p.m. approaching the curve just prior to the intersection with Mountain Circle when he ran off the road, continued down an embankment and struck several trees prior to coming to rest in the yard of 468 Mountain Circle. Romero was charged with failure to drive within a single lane, careless driving, failure to exhibit documents and failure to have vehicle inspected.
July 2
Joann Procko-Drozd, 56, of Hewitt, was issued a summons for improper passing on the shoulder of a roadway when she rain into the rear of a vehicle driven by Andrew Murphy, 21, of West Milford. Murphy was stopped in traffic on Union Valley Road preparing to make a left-hand turn into Town Cycle at 2:36 p.m. when Procko-Drozd his him. Procko-Drozd was taken to Chilton Hospital.
July 5
Police Officer Bruce Lederman observed a white Honda CRV operating in the right lane of travel on Route 23, driving on the right front rim of his vehicle. Officer Lederman initiated a motor vehicle stop at 7:44 p.m. and observed Joseph Vrindten, 49, of Highland Lakes, to be driving while intoxicated. Vrindten was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released. Vrindten was charged with DWI.
Young Kim, 53, of Palisades Park, was issued a summons after hitting another car which was traveling south on Oak Ridge Road. Kim exited Cozy Lake Road, striking the other car in the rear passenger side bumper area. The summons was for disregard of a stop sign, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, operating a vehicle while suspended. Diane Frazee, 64, of Glenwood, the driver of the other car, was transported to Chilton Hospital with injuries.
July 8
David Kaminsky, 53, of Hewitt, was operating a motorcycle on Lakeshore Drive South at 9:03 a.m. when an unidentified silver 4-door vehicle traveling in the opposite direction cut him off by making a left hand turn onto Dunham Road. Kaminsky lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected. Upper Greenwood Lake First Aid #54 and Paramedics #901 arrived on scene to assess the driver, who complained of injury and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital by Hackensack Medivac #1.
July 12
Two drivers were taken to Chilton Hospital after an accident on Macopin Road at 3:46 p.m. Christ Soehongen, 55, of West Milford was traveling north on Macopin Road. Timothy Struble, 54, of West Milford was traveling south on Macopin Road and had made a left across the center line pulling into the parking lot of Apshawa Firehouse. The two vehicles collided in the northbound lane of traffic. West Milford Fire Company #4 (Newfoundland) and Apshawa Fire Company responded and extricated Soehongen. West Milford First Aid Squad #46, 47 and 49 responded to the scene and evaluated the occupants of both vehicles. Chilton ALS responded but was cancelled upon arrival. Soehongen and his passenger were transported to Chilton Hospital in West Milford First Aid Squad #46. Struble was taken to Chilton Hospital in West Milford First Aid Squad #49.
July 15
Barbara Fischer, 55, of Pompton Plains, was traveling in the left lane of southbound Route 23 at 11:25 a.m. when she lost control of her vehicle, striking a concrete barrier. She then struck a guardrail, bounced back across the two travel lanes and struck the concrete barrier again before coming to rest in the right lane of travel. Fischer was transported to Chilton Hospital.
July 17
A residence on Morsetown Road was burglarized between July 17 and July 21. Jewelry and coins were stolen. The case is under investigation by Officer Stephen Braikovich and Det. Eric Darnsteadt.
July 18
Aaron Byrd, 25, of Wanaque was traveling south on Route 23 in the left lane, when Michael Kurceski, 17, of Rockaway made a left hand turn in front of him from the right lane attempting to pull into the Shell Gas Station exit ramp. Byrd attempted to stop but struck the left rear of Kurceski's vehicle. Kurceski then spun 180 degrees before striking a utility pole. He was transported to Chilton Hospital.
July 19
John Cahill, 47, of Oak Ridge, was driving north on Morsetown Road at 12:46 p.m. when Eric Smidt, 17, of West Milford traveled into his lane, hitting him in the driver side. Cahill and two passengers had minor injuries and were transported to Chilton Hospital. Both vehicles were removed by Oak Ridge collision. Smidt was issued a summons for careless driving.
July 20
Rachel Kennedy, 29, of West Milford, traveling in the left lane of Route 23 southbound at 11:30 a.m. ran off the roadway and into the grass median. Kennedy indicated that an unknown vehicle veered into her lane, causing her to take evasive action. She was issued a summons for driving while suspended.
Maysoon Hassan, 47, of Clifton, lost control of her vehicle on Union Valley Road at 3:12 p.m. and struck a utility pole. Hassan was transported to Chilton Hospital for injuries.
