— Each year, the township of West Milford honors and acknowledges its dedicated volunteers. This year, the Volunteer Award Program will be held on Wednesday, April 17, at the regular council meeting at town hall.

The recipients of the 2012 Volunteer of the Year Award and the Mary B. Hasse Lifetime Volunteer Award will be honored for their contributions to the community.

A special panel comprised of former West Milford mayors choose the lifetime volunteer recipient, someone who has exhibited a lifelong spirit of volunteerism within the community. Last year, Adrian Birdsall received the honor.

The township seeks nominations for its Volunteer of the Year recipient. The deadline for those nominations is today, March 8, at 4:30 p.m. Any individual who lives or works in West Milford and has volunteered their time, services or talents to benefit others within the community during 2012 is eligible. The mayor and township council will select the 2012 Volunteer of the Year.

Nomination forms are available in the clerk's office at town hall, at the Hillcrest Community Center, the library and on the township's Web site, www.westmilford.org, click on News.

Volunteer organizations will have the opportunity at the April 17 meeting to make a brief presentation to the council and public about their activities and events.

Presentation Request Forms are also available at the clerk's office, Hillcrest Community Center, the library and on the township's Web site. To register your organization to make a presentation, get it to the clerk's office no later than 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday April 12.
