Do you know a volunteer who contributes to the township in an extraordinary way?

The Township of West Milford plans to celebrate their annual Volunteer Award Night on April 23, 2014. Residents of the township may nominate any individual who lives or works in West Milford and has, in 2013, volunteered their time, services, or talents to benefit others within the community. The mayor and township council will select a recipient for the 2013 Volunteer of the Year from the nominations received.

The deadline for nominations for volunteer of the year is Wednesday, March 12, at 4:30 p.m.

In addition to the 2013 Volunteer of the Year Award, a special panel comprised of West Milford's former mayors will choose the Mary B. Haase Lifetime Volunteer. This recipient is chosen by the Mayors' Selection Committee and will be presented to someone who has exhibited a lifelong spirit of volunteerism within the community.

Nomination forms for the 2013 Volunteer of the Year have been mailed to local civic and volunteer organizations. They are also available online at westmilford.org. Additional nomination forms are available at the West Milford Town Hall, Hillcrest Community Center and the West Milford Library. All completed forms need to be returned to the Township Clerk's Office in person, by mail, or by fax at 973-728-2704 no later than 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2014.

Volunteers from throughout the township, as well as the volunteer of the year and the lifetime volunteer, will be honored at the April 23 township council meeting. As part of that meeting, volunteer groups also will give brief presentations.

The township hall is located at 1480 Union Valley Road.
