This week everyone got a preview of the beautiful spring that will be here soon and all the snow and ice will melt!

Everyone will want to start going outdoors, working in the yard, going for walks and exercising away those extra pounds that were gained during the winter.

Being out and about and exercising is always more enjoyable with a companion and friend. And the West Milford Animal Shelter has a dog that would love to be someone's friend and companion.

His name is Diesel and he is a very handsome dog with the soul of a gentleman. He also has a lot of energy and enjoys going for a walk or run. One of the shelter's volunteers, Paul, signed-up for a 5K program with the company he works for. The program takes a member from couch potato to running 3.1 miles in eight weeks. Diesel was his training partner at the shelter and according to Paul, he was a perfect partner. He adjusted his run to Paul's pace with no complaints. It was a win-win situation - they were both able to run with a friend and Paul was able to train.

Diesel is very spirited and a fun and happy boy. He prances and does circle dances when he is happy.

A great companion for the right person, he warms up to people very quickly when he "knows all is well." Because of his high energy level, he is best suited for an adult household where he can be the one and only canine member. He seems to like other dogs but does not want to share his space with one. He is not bothered by cats - he has been introduced to some at the shelter..

For information on Diesel, call 973-728-2859, visit www.westmilfordanimalshelter.org or the West Milford Animal Shelter facebook page. The shelter is located on Lycosky Drive (behind recycling). Stop by and visit him!
