Enjoy an "Evening of Jazz" at West Milford High School
Proceeds will benefit band and choir
WEST MILFORD — West Milford High School will be hosting this year's Evening of Jazz on March 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
The Evening of Jazz will feature world- renowned singer and entertainer Grover Kemble.
Kemble has been entertaining audiences with his clever lyrics and cool guitar licks since the 1970s. He toured with Sha Na Na, and was a founder of the popular swing groups Grover-Margaret and Za Zu Zaz. In the fall of 1984, Kemble showcased and recorded jazz material with a new quartet named Blow Daddyo. This band's witty, entertaining format delighted audiences and won air play on commercial and college radio throughout the New York listening area. In the late 1980s, he played in both duo and group settings with world-renowned jazz artist John Pizzarelli, and accompanied his band in 2005 at the JVC Jazz Festival at Carnegie Hall.
Kemble and the students have put together a lively and exciting program featuring old favorites such as "Count Your Blessings" from White Christmas, as well as some new tunes.
Admission is $7; students through middle school are free. Funds will benefit the choir members as they journey to Disney World with the band this spring, where both groups will be performing.
Come on out to support the choir, and hear some excellent music.
