Be part of the strategic plan
BY PATRICIA KELLER
WEST MILFORD — The West Milford Board of Education has invited the public to attend its strategic plan meetings to help the district devise its plan for 2014 through 2018. The second of these meetings is scheduled for Thursday, April 10, at West Milford High School, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The topic will be “Dream - Creating a Common Vision.”
The first meeting was held on March 6 after the original meeting was postponed from Feb. 13.
The final planning meeting will be held on May 20 and the topic will be “Design the District’s Destiny - Goals and Objectives.”
According to the District’s Web site, “Strategic planning creates a vision of the future, and identifies goal and strategies necessary to move the district forward to meet the challenges of the 21st century. We will be discussing the strengths and accomplishments of the district, the vision and expectations for our schools, and the goals and objectives necessary to design our future. We are inviting staff members, parents, students, community leaders and other interested members of the public to work together with us – so that we can effectively plan for the future of our schools and students.”
Strategic planning guides school districts to answer the following questions: Where are we today? Where do we want to be in the future? What should we be focused on today, in order to make it more likely we will be where we want to be in the future? It is intended to bridge the gap between long-term vision and day-to-day tactics.
The West Milford Board of Education encourages all residents interested in participating in the strategic planning process of the school district to attend and participate in the scheduled community meetings. “Let your voice be heard, and craft a common vision for the future,” the district states.
The meetings are facilitated by New Jersey School Board Field Service Representatives Robynn Meehan and Al Annunziata. Those interested in attending and participating are required to RSVP to email@example.com or 973-697-1700 ext. 5031.
