  • In 1961, New York Yankees Roger Maris, left, and Mickey Mantle captivated the baseball world as they slugged it out for the homerun championship.

The Friends of the West Milford Library is sponsoring "We're Talkin' Baseball," a multi-media program and lecture on the New York Yankees champion 1961 season, including Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris' quest to break Babe Ruth's single season home run record. Relive this fascinating home run chase that captivated the nation, and learn about baseball before the steroid era. This entertaining and informative program will be presented by Jim Kane, author, educator and master storyteller. The program, suitable for baseball fans of all ages, will be held on Monday, April 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the main meeting room of the West Milford Town Hall. Admission is free and Crackerjacks will be served.
