Marshall Hill’s sixth grade classes took a trip to the Metropolitan Opera in New York City to see a working rehearsal recently. Sixth graders and teachers prepped for their trip by learning about the history of the Met, the components of an opera, and the story of La Sonnambula (The Sleepwalker), a dramatic tale featuring a young woman with a big secret. The students got to see performers rehearsing different sections of the opera and got a glimpse into what goes on before a performance hits the stage. The sixth graders especially enjoyed walking around the beautiful Met building and Lincoln Center complex, dressing up, and taking lots of pictures. It was an exciting day for everyone
