Chelsea at Bald Eagle comes to the aid of Michelle

A team effort by employees, residents and families of The Chelsea at Bald Eagle senior living residence, has raised $3,300 to purchase a Braille pen for a beloved volunteer.

Michelle Letsche is a vision-impaired volunteer who, for several years, has visited the senior residence to offer companionship, tell jokes and read in Braille to residents. Up until now, she has used an old typewriter-like device to write. Now, she will be able to use a specially-designed pen to communicate more effectively and connect to an iPad and send email.

A day of fundraising at The Chelsea included a bake sale, bingo games and a tricky tray auction plus random donations, all of which totaled just under $1,700. The nearby West Milford Presbyterian Church has offered to match that contribution.

“The team work and love for Michelle was just heartfelt and inspiring,” said Felicia Serr, activity director at The Chelsea. “It all just came together.”
