— Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Parish is hosting its second family festival on Friday, May 30, Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1.

Festival events will include games, ethnic foods, music, dancing, local talent shows, and Bingo. Popular contests include a lumberjack saw, a dog show (Saturday registration from 1 to 2 p.m., judging at 2:30 p.m.), and an antique car show (Saturday arrival 1 to 3 p.m., judging at 5 p.m.).

“We listened to our families and feel confident that there is truly an activity to engage everyone, from tots to seniors, whether as a participant or an observer,” said Rev. Michael Rodak, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace. “We invite all families in the community, Catholic or not, to enjoy a day, an evening, or a weekend sharing a great time together.”

Dan Janelli and John Trahan, co-chairs of the event, researched other parish family festivals and reviewed the success of the parish’s first family festival last year. “Great music is essential for a successful event , so we’ve got Thunder Hill, a country band, on Friday night from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m., DJ Lady J Entertainment (3 to 6 p.m.) and Reminisce, New Jersey’s number one oldies band (7:30 to 10:30 p.m.) on Saturday. Our local teen talent (1 to 6 p.m.), Sweet Adelines (2:30 to 3 p.m.), and Lady Fingers (3:30 to 4 p.m.) will fill Sunday with a variety of musical talent, all performing under the big tent. Rain or shine, we are ready to go!” said Janelli. “New this year are Jumbo Bounce Houses and a fantastic Rock Climbing Wall.”

The festival will provide residents something new and different to bring families together for a memorable weekend event. Those wishing to reserve a booth, volunteer, or learn more should visit www.olqpnj.org or call 973-728-8162.
