This year, the annual theatre night fund raiser for the Deborah Hospital Foundation Greater Pompton Area Chapter NJ is going to be an event for the entire family. The show is “Shrek the Musical” based on the Oscar-winning film of the same name.

The musical production to benefit the Deborah Heart and Lung Center Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Hospital is on Friday, May 23, at the Barn Theatre, 32 Skyline Drive, Montville. Showtime is 7 p.m. Tickets cost $35 and include a wine and cheese reception. Homemade treats and soda for children will also be available. There are group discounts - three for $100 and 10 for $300. For tickets and information, call 973-495-6403.

The Greater Pompton Area Chapter of the Foundation includes members from the former West Milford chapter. The foundation is the fund raising arm of the Deborah Hospital at Browns Mills. The hospital focuses exclusively on cardiac, vascular, and lung disease using state-of-the-art technology and care.

The Greater Pompton Chapter is committed to raising awareness and funds for the hospital. New members are welcome. Five people joined in February and were welcomed at a pizza/antipasto party in Pompton Plains. A short film about Deborah Hospital was shown. People also spoke about how Deborah has impacted their lives and that of their neighbors. Robert Birnbaum, a board member of Deborah Hospital and recognized as Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year, was a guest at the meeting.

The new members are Steve Vryhof, Betty Vryhof, Richard Less, Anthony Kessaris, Dana Dube and Charlie Dube. People interested in learning about the organization can get information on the web site.
