Chilton honors its 'Circle of Excellence' award winners
West Milford nurse Cathilynn Burgstahler is among honorees
POMPTON PLAINS — National Nurses Week is celebrated annually in May, concluding on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing.
On Wednesday, May 7, Chilton Medical Center’s celebration of National Nurses Week was highlighted by an induction of six individuals out of 21 nominees into its eighth annual “Circle of Excellence.” West Milford's Cathilynn Burgstahler was among the honorees.
“Our nurses bring Chilton Medical Center’s vision to life: To promote wellness and to provide compassionate care and healing,” said Chief Nursing Officer Joanne Reich, RN, MA, NE-A, BC. “Our Circle of Excellence winners go above and beyond what it takes to heal our community, and I am very proud to work with such talented and caring nurses.”
The awards and winners are:
Excellence in Nursing Leadership: Liza Padua, RN, of Butler
Excellence in Patient Centered Care by a Preceptor: Cathilynn Burgstahler, RN, of West Milford
Excellence in Patient Centered Care by a Novice Practitioner: Gabriela Salas, RN, of Carlstadt
Excellence in Patient Centered Care by a Staff Nurse: Donna Macrone, RN, of Wayne
Excellence in Senior Generational Initiative: Marie Ricci, RN, of Wayne
Excellence in Patient Centered Care by a Patient Care Technician: Abid Muttakim, PCT, of Paterson
The American Nurses Association (ANA), the largest nursing organization in the United States, created National Nurses Week to highlight the diverse ways in which registered nurses, the nation’s largest health care profession, are working to improve health care. The ANA designated the 2014 National Nurses Week theme as “Nurses Leading the Way.”
