Exciting things are happening at the chamber

The West Milford Chamber of Commerce has updated its website, WestMilford.com, with a new look, including a new logo and slogan.

"The website is cleaner and more attractive than our old site," said Stu Feldman, president of the West Milford Chamber of Commerce. "Our Marketing and Website Committees are collaborating to formulate an inclusive strategy, utilizing the web, social media, printed media, and business networking to help our members work together to grow our local economy."

The new logo includes a black bear, because that's what we are about in West Milford. Many business owners who work outside of our town tell us they display pictures of the bears in their stores, and it always creates wonder and interest about West Milford.

The new slogan, "Support Local Business," has been a focus of The Chamber over the past few years, Feldman noted, but the group does much more than that.

"We sponsor the Autumn Lights Festival (ALF) and the farmers market," he said. "We provide college scholarships to two high school seniors each year. We participate in the Adopt-a-Place and Adopt-a-Sign programs, as well as maintain the triangle where the new town clock is located. The 'Light Up Our Town' initiative, to bring some holiday spirit back into West Milford, was very well received, and we hope to expand this program. We have partnered with The Highlands Economic Development Corp.(HEAT) and The Economic Development Commission (EDC) to create a comprehensive, diverse business strategy."

Feldman explained that the new WestMilford.com website has some new sections and interacts with social media. The tourism section describes all of the fun things to do and see in the township. The website’s homepage features the newest 10 members. He encourages residents to visit the site frequently to view details on each of their business profiles.

"We have a newly updated event gallery which shows our past meetings and events hosted at businesses all around town," Feldman said. "We also have job listings for the immediate area for anyone who is looking for work, or for a new job."

There is even a lodging section on the website for potential visitors to find a place to stay overnight and enjoy West Milford even longer, Feldman noted.

"Stay in West Milford and enjoy a relaxing atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We encourage other area hotels and BandB's to join our Chamber of Commerce and advertise their accommodations on our website."

The chamber can be found on facebook; "Like" them and get local news, marketing articles and town events. Clergy are honorary members and are encouraged to post community events, such as blood drives and food pantries.

The group explores new and innovative ideas like the Tax Rebate Program to encourage residents to shop locally.

The West Milford Chamber of Commerce is at the forefront of the business community here, and in surrounding towns by spearheading multi-chamber meetings.

Feldman said the community benefits from the chamber's endeavors.

"We not only support businesses, but the entire community of West Milford."
