Have you been hoping to get back into shape this summer, all while meeting new people in your community? The Tri-Town Wellness Challenge might be just what you are looking for.

The West Milford, Ringwood and Wanaque Health Departments and Chilton Medical Center are teaming together for this first ever “Tri-Town Wellness Challenge.” And it's free.

The main goal of the Wellness Challenge is for people to get more active and healthier, without spending extra money, all while using the beautiful natural resources in the area. Participants will have to opportunity to participate in as many activities as they wish. Activities include, bi-weekly weigh ins, walking clubs, yoga, nutrition and wellness education and support.

Participants will be encouraged to eat locally and cook with fresh and whole foods during the summer, limiting any processed and fast foods. The Ringwood and West Milford Farmers Markets will be involved in the event. Registered dieticians from ShopRite of Oakland and Warwick will be teaching many different nutrition classes.

Walks will take place on Monday evenings at Skylands/Botanical Gardens followed by a yoga class. On Thursday evenings, walks are scheduled at Wawayanda State Park. Wednesday mornings and Tuesday evenings will be nutrition classes and a walk. There will be some team activities sponsored by the West Milford PAL, including volleyball and kickball.

The more you participate, the more points you earn; the more points you obtain, the greater the chance to win a prize.

Also participating in the Wellness Challenge are KozYoga of Ringwood, New Bridge and the West Milford PAL.
