County outreach for veterans in West Milford
PATERSON — The Passaic County Clerk’s Office and Department of Veterans’ Affairs have partnered to provide Passaic County veterans with a free photo ID card. These cards identify veterans who served in our armed forces and received an honorable discharge following their military service. The ID cards give veterans the ability to receive discounts or benefits offered by many local stores and restaurants.
In order to obtain an identification card, a veteran will need to present a copy of their DD-214 Military Discharge Record along with proof of identity and domicile in Passaic County. A copy of the DD-214 (discharge papers) will be registered with the Passaic County Clerk’s Office. Veterans may apply for their ID card at the County Clerk’s main office at 401 Grand Street in Paterson or the Satellite Office at 1237 Ringwood Avenue in Haskell (Wanaque). Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vets may also obtain an ID card at one of the Outreach events scheduled in September.
There will be an outreach event in West Milford on Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hillcrest Community Center, 1810 Macopin Road.
Veterans residing in Passaic County may also apply for their Veteran Peddler’s License. A copy of your DD-214 is required. There is no fee for the Peddler’s License. Applications are submitted to the New Jersey Department of Defense for approval.
