From Small Orchard to Winery & Distillery

Owned by Joseph Grizzanti, his son Jason Grizzanti, and family-friend Jeremy Kidde, Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery is truly an oasis. Not just because it serves local wines, beers, and ciders, but because the atmosphere is relaxing and picturesque. From the little pond nearby to the horses out back, it truly represents the Warwick region. Even the horse featured on their logo pays tribute to the Warwick area.
As childhood friends, Jason and Jeremy always talked about having their own business. When Jason’s parents bought the orchard back in 1989, they didn’t foresee it growing more fruit than needed for making a few homemade pies and giving some away to friends. The question of what do to with all of the abundant fruit was quickly answered when the trio decided to open a winery and distillery.
Now Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery has nearly 100 acres at their Warwick site and about 45 acres at their Pine Island facility. They host all sorts of large events, parties, festivals, and local gatherings. The ingredients served are grown in New York, but their clients come from all sorts of places. While there is a strong local following, some folks come all the way from Northern New Jersey and the boroughs of New York City to taste the wine and cider.
What to Try
Owner Jeremy Kidde confirms the cider is their most popular drink overall, but also says their sangria is a big crowd favorite. He personally enjoys the peach cider which he describes as light, crisp, and champagne-like. His favorite wine? The Pinot Gris, a mouthwatering mix of peach and green apples that has lingering notes of tart pear.
The Future is Rosé
Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery will be focusing more on their in-house events, such as their music festivals, 5K Cider Run, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash tributes, etc. However, they are also excited for a new dry Rosé wine, after the success of their Rosé Cider last year. In addition, they look forward to releasing a Rosé Gin for clients who love trying new things.
