Drivers can expect traffic delays
Culvert replacements on Warwick Turnpike, Marshall Hill expected
BY ANN GENADER
WEST MILFORD — People who use Marshall Hill Road and/or the section of Warwick Turnpike connecting to Upper Greenwood Lake and beyond will face new traffic challenges in months to come while two major Passaic County work projects are underway.
Marshall Road will be closed for six months and there will be alternating one-way traffic which includes temporary portable traffic signals. Both projects involve culvert replacements. No start date is yet announced but county and township officials said the work will be done during the construction season of the current year.
The Passaic County Engineering Department announced that a tentative schedule is being prepared for replacement of the Passaic County Culvert 1600-447 on Warwick Turnpike. The report from the county to Township of West Milford officials acknowledges that traffic issues associated with the construction “will be challenging.”
A report from the township engineering department said there is a final plan review process currently underway with the West Milford Engineering Division and the West Milford Police Department. If anyone wants to view the plans they are available in the office of the West Milford Engineering Division.
The Passaic County Engineering Department will advertise for bids in February. If a qualified bidder is contracted the construction will be done this year during the construction season with anticipated completion by the end of the year, county officials said.
On Sept. 23, 2014 the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders met at the West Milford Municipal Building. The county Engineering Department gave a presentation on the status of the culvert replacement proposed for Marshall Hill Road culvert and Warwick Turnpike culvert at that time.
