The Ringwood Farmers’ Market’s Opening Day on Saturday, May 27 will celebrate the start of its 10th season providing locally grown produce and products to the local community. Each Saturday, the market invites shoppers between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Ringwood Park and Ride. The market will be open each Saturday, rain or shine, through Oct. 29.

Customers will be welcomed on Opening Day by the Eat Local Board with a 10 a.m. ribbon cutting ceremony, refreshments, activities and more. Vendors look forward to greeting old friends and making many new ones.

The market welcomes back its favorite vendors and introduces several new vendors in 2017, providing customers with a variety of produce and locally prepared food unlike any year before, including local fruits and vegetables, microgreens, goat cheese, goat milk, fresh baked goods, local honey, farm fresh eggs, grass fed, local beef, pork and poultry, home-made jam, Polish delicacies, freshly prepared soups, nutritious cookie bars, flowers, plants, jerky, fresh made pasta, pasta sauces, ravioli, pizza, prepared entrees, pickles, iced coffee, lemonade, homemade sweet and savory pies, Greek specialties, locally roasted coffee, alpaca yarn and attire and more.

Visit their website, www.ringwoodfarmersmarket.com, to find out more about the vendors and their offerings.

Each week the market will host an artisan vendor featuring hand-crafted products and a non-profit corner highlighting local community groups.

The market presents weekly Music at the Market performances between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. Barry Wiesenfeld and John Foley of FlipSide will be performing on opening day. True to their name, FlipSide brings back some of the great songs of the past, from touching ballads to rock, performed creatively on stage for your enjoyment.

As part of a new feature of the 2017 season, the Market will offer a children’s program. A minimum of once a month, the market will feature children’s activities for their youngest shoppers. Some of these fun and educational activities will include a market treasure hunt, fruit and vegetable Bingo along with assorted crafts. Opening Day will offer children the chance to plant a bean plant to take home and make their own fruit and vegetable hats.

The Ringwood Farmers' Market accepts EBT (Food Stamp and Cash Assistance Benefits — SNAP) cards. EBT card holders can go to the market manager tent and use their benefits to purchase "Green Market Bucks." The Ringwood Farmers' Market will give you double the value on these bucks, up to $20. The "Green Market Bucks" can then be used to purchase eligible food and beverages at the market.

The Ringwood Park and Ride is located on Cannici Drive off Skyline Drive behind Ringwood Commons and next to the Ringwood Public Library. For more information, log on to www.RingwoodFarmersMarket.org, and visit them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
