The beautiful Patricia Hajek, nee Wanser, went home to God, Tuesday, June 13, 2017.

The oldest of seven children of Richard and Orsola Lucchese Wanser, she was born in Canarsie, Brooklyn before moving to the Bronx and Long Island.

After a storybook meeting, she married Ted Hajek and moved to Upper Greenwood Lake. They would have been married 47 years.

She was the proud mother of Theodore and his wife, Eva; Jason and his wife, Maeve; and Karen Petersen and her husband, Darren. Patricia was Nana to eight grandchildren: Kriszta, Ben, Avery, Damon, Stella, Jaxson, Amelia and Grant.

After taking a first aid course, Patricia joined the UGL Ambulance Corps and became the first EMT. She then returned to college to become a registered nurse. She worked at Ringwood Medical and Holy Name Friary before becoming school nurse at Our Lady Queen of Peace and St. Catherine’s schools.

Patricia was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace parish where she was their first Eucharistic minister, the high soprano in the choir for over 40 years and a cornerstone member. Patricia was also a member of the West Milford Women’s Club. She happily preformed in various plays with St. Catherine’s Performing Arts Guild and Iron Mountain Theater group.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 16, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Richards Funeral Home, 1440 Union Valley Road, West Milford. Mass will be held on Saturday, June 17, at noon at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 1911 Union Valley Road, Hewitt. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 454 Germantown Road, West Milford.
