Registration for the 9th annual Wheelers for the Wounded NJ (WFTWNJ) Veterans Appreciation Trail Ride is now open.

The group provides a day of off roading - nothing extreme - for wounded military veterans and their guests. It will take place on Saturday, Aug. 26. The West Milford Elks have embraced and supported this program, providing funding and volunteers.

The fun-filled day starts with a continental breakfast, colors presented, and off into the woods in Jeeps and 4x4 trucks. Everyone returns to the tent camp for a BBQ lunch, and then it's back to the trails for an afternoon trail ride.

Wheelers for the Wounded state chapters provide similar trail rides in their local areas. This years New Jersey event will be held in Sussex County. This opportunity is for local veterans to experience a much-deserved day of fun and excitement.

"This is our way of saying thank you to those who have served," according to Wheelers for the Wounded.

The trail ride is free to veterans and their guests. Wheelers for the Wounded raises funds throughout the year to pay for this event. The Elks National Veterans Service and the Elks National Foundation help to make this event grow every year.
