Centenary Stage Co. planning 'Hair' auditions

The Centenary Stage Company, a professional nonprofit theater in residency on the Campus of Centenary University, will be holding, non-equity open auditions for the 2018 summer stock production of "Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical. "

Featuring a book and lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermott. Set in the East Village, "Hair" tells the story of a group of hippies, who celebrate peace, love, and the freedom of choice, in the shadow of the Vietnam War.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, March 24 from 3 to 8 p.m. in the Lackland Center Performing Arts Center located on the campus of Centenary University at 715 Grand Ave Hackettstown.

The production will be directed and choreographed by Lea Antolini Assistant Professor of Theater and Dance Centenary University.

Centenary Stage Company is seeking dynamic actors, singers and movers, and specifically singers with strong pop and rock abilities.

Performers should prepare 16 to 32 bars of a rock or contemporary song from musical theatre genre.

An accompanist will be provided. There will be a movement portion of the audition. Please be prepared to move.

No appointment necessary, however, interested performers are encouraged to sign up for the open call.

Call the Centenary Stage Company to sign up. Performers will be seen on a first come first serve basis.

All roles are available. Centenary Stage Company is seeking a diverse company. Ethnic performers are strongly encouraged to attend.

Hair will open July 26 and run through Aug. 5, with performances Thursdays through Sundays, in the Sitnik Theater of The Lackland Performing Arts Center. Housing will be provided for the principle performers as well as some of the “tribe”
