The former library building facing Ridge Road will soon be the location for people who need various permits to go to for their business.

The building and planning departments will relocate there from their current offices in the municipal building.

Mayor Bettina Bieri Bieri said the township clerk, tax, administration and police departments will remain in the municipal building. She explained at a recent council meeting that the plan will accommodate the residents better, and it will get the staff out of basement locations.

The mayor said costs are minimal. Administrator Antoinette Battaglia was authorized by the board to meet with the employees’ representatives and the ADA Committee for feedback.

After the new library opened, township representatives have been studying ways to use the old library.

The old library is more accessible for people in wheelchairs than the old basement offices.
