West Milford — Local Boy Scout has a message to his community:
"My name is John Setford and I am a Life Scout with Troop 44 from West Milford Presbyterian Church in West Milford, N.J.
I am working on my Eagle Project, which is a mindful Zen garden for the students and faculty for Apshawa Elementary School to use throughout the year.
I am raising money to pay for the materials, plants, benches, stones, gazebo and water feature to create the zen garden.
I am starting my project and my fundraising goal is $7,700.00. My estimated time to complete the project is the end of August of this year.
I attended Apshawa Elementary School from kindergarten through 6th grade.
My years at Apshawa has made me the person I am today.
The teachers, staff and students have made such a huge positive impact on my life.
This is my way of thanking them and showing my appreciation.
