Dale and Signorino comment about GOP election status

West Milford Republican Organization Chair Michele Dale election has clarified designations of the people who will be on the Nov. 6 election ballot as candidates seeking voter support to be elected mayor.

Dale is the West Milford Republican Organization candidate, chosen by a majority of 14 of the 26 members voting for her at the GOP organization meeting earlier this month.

She pointed out that no designation exists as “Independent Republican” (as was referred to in the Messenger as status for mayor by Tim Wagner in an article published online candidates for mayor).

Dale said the petition that Wagner filed at the Passaic County Election Board was an “Independent” petition.

“If it were a primary, he could have filed with the Election Board as a Republican,” she said. “For this very unique circumstance a candidate can be on the ballot as a Democrat, Republican or Independent.

Republican Councilman Luciano (Lou) Signorino told the West Milford Messenger that he never intended running as an independent candidate for the office of mayor of the Township of West Milford.

“I’ve always been a Republican and have run as one,” Signorino said. “The published statement (online) that reads to the effect of me not meeting a ballot filing deadline is erroneous and it may imply that I slacked, was lazy or ignorant. I am not a candidate in this election.”

The choice of the candidates on the ballot for voters will be: Republican Organization Michele Dale; Democratic Organization Christopher Garcia and Independent Tim Wagner.
