Highlander Band wins Yamaha Cup

WEST MILFORD - The Highlander Marching Band continued to strive for excellence with an undefeated record in its 2018 competition season, including taking first place in the prestigious USBands “Yamaha Cup” competition on Oct 13.

The band's performances of its 2018 field show, “Dia de los Muertos” also earned them “Caption Awards” at each competition for Best Music, Best Band, Best Percussion, Best Colorguard, Best Overall Performance, Best Overall Effect, and others.

The band was slated to compete in the State Championship last weekend at Rutgers High Point Stadium in Piscataway, and in the National Championship Competition in Allentown, Pennsylvania this week.

The Highlanders will then return home to host its annual fundraiser and community show honoring Veterans on Nov 10 at the West Milford High School.

“The Highlanders 19th Annual Military Concert and Tattoo” features entertainment of professional pipes and drums bands from throughout the tristate area, the high-stepping Clifton Marching Mustangs, and of course, West Milford’s very own Highlander Marching Band.

The event gives residents the opportunity to see the band in action as they pay tribute and express gratitude to all military veterans for their service to the community.
