WEST MILFORD – Kate Romeo, Teresa Dwyer, and David Ofshinsky won the three available Board of Education seats during Tuesday’s general elections.

According to the Passaic County Clerk’s Office, Romeo won 3,140 votes for the first seat, followed by Dwyer with 2,865 and Ofshinsky with 2,391.

“I want to express my heartfelt thanks for the overwhelming support from the West Milford voters,” Romeo said in an email Wednesday. “I am honored and humbled that you have trust in me to help bring best practices to our school district. I will prove my dedication and uphold my commitment to achieve the most effective outcomes for our children's education.”

She said that the district and administration are “amazing” and that she is looking forward to working on making it better during her tenure on the board.

“I will continue to listen and advocate for those who feel misunderstood or unheard,” she said.

She also congratulated the other winners as well as the four challengers that did not win a seat, Jaycen Stillman, Gary Dan, Jim Foody and Greg Bailey.

“I appreciated getting to know more about these fine gentlemen and enjoyed running an honest campaign alongside them,” she said.

Seven candidates ran for the three seats.

“I wish to thank my good friends, neighbors and citizens in this township for their trust in my vision,” Dwyer said in an email. “I will do my best to serve the children, staff and citizens of West Milford to the best of my ability.”

Ofshinsky said he is looking forward to working with both Romeo and Dwyer when he takes his seat on the board in January.

“I would like to thank everyone who supported me, and also congratulate Ms. Romeo and Ms. Dwyer on their victories,” he said in an email. “I look forward to working with them along with all of the Board Members to make the West Milford School District the best it can be.”
