RIVERDALE — Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey is seeking nominations for their annual Women of Achievement benefit on March 12 at the Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park.
This annual awards dinner honors a selection of phenomenal women in the community who are outstanding role models and professionals, who help girls succeed through their efforts in their careers and personal lives.
Nominees must work or reside within the jurisdiction of Girls Scouts of Northern New Jersey, which encompasses Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and the northern half of Warren counties; make exceptional contributions within their fields of endeavor, uphold the values of the Girl Scouts Promise and Law, and being available to attend the event on March 12, 2014. Women of Achievement candidates should be 36 years of age or older. Nominees are also being sought for a new category of award, Young Woman of Promise, who women who are between 25 and 35 years old.

This year’s honorees were Kimberly Burnett, of Sparta, executive vice president and chief human relations office of Selective Insurance Company of America; Natasha Maximoff Chandler, of Chester, executive director of Global Strategy and Transformation of Merck; Linda Spradley Dunn, of Englewood, CEO/Publisher of Odyssey Media; and Odette Valdez, of Oradell, founder of OV Babies Multi Cultural Summer Camp.
The Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey also honored Barbara von dem Hagen of Elmwood Park, longtime volunteer for GSNNJ, with the Mitzi Golbek Spirit of Girl Scouting Award.
The Women of Achievement awards dinner honors women who dedicate their time, talent and resources to help build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.
Proceeds from Women of Achievement 2014 will be used to provide financial assistance to girls throughout northern New Jersey with a focus on girls in our urban and second city areas who want to fully experience all that Girl Scouting offers.
Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey serves 20 percent of girls ages 5-17 in 160 municipalities including all of Bergen, Morris, Passaic and Sussex counties and the northern half of Warren County. There are currently 34,000 girl members and 17,000 adult members.
