Warwick. Police have identified the driver of a dump truck that overturned on the Warwick Turnpike April 9, killing him.
According to Warwick Police Lt. John Rader, Brian O’Hagan, 58, of Highland Mills was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
According to police, the accident took place at 7:30 a.m. as O’Hagan traveled down the Warwick Turnpike with a dump truck loaded with dirt.
Near the Warwick Drive-In, he lost control of the truck and overturned on the roadway, spilling the dirt.
Warwick police, ambulance and EMT units arrived at the scene and found the driver trapped inside the vehicle.
Warwick fire crews called in the West Milford Fire Department to help with removing O’Hagan from the truck.
The road was closed down for several hours as crews cleared the dirt and debris from the scene.
Rader said police are working with the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle division to investigate the accident.
Police have not yet determined the cause, Rader said.
Police said they did not have any information regarding the company O’Hagan was working for at the time of the crash.
According to an obituary, O’Hagan was born in New York City on Aug. 25, 1960.
“Brian will be remembered by all for his quick wit and his wonderful sense of humor,” his obituary said. “Brian was loved by all who were lucky to call him a friend. He had so many true, genuine and loyal friends. Brian will always be remembered for his kind and wonderful heart and will be missed by all.”
Services for O’Hagan took place last week, according to the funeral home.
