Upper Greenwood Lake Elementary School held its 7th annual Scooter Bowl event at West Milford High School on Feb. 22. Students who played scooter football throughout the year had the opportunity to compete in the School's playoffs, which ultimately led to the championship game. The game came down to the final two minutes and the Cowboys defeated the Dolphins, 15-13.
At the event, UGL held raffles for future events such as Principal for the Day, Physical Education Teacher for the Day, and an opportunity to compete in activities for special prizes.
Teachers Daniel Brophy from Upper Greenwood Lake, Jake Mathews from Macopin and Jason Benz from Marshall Hill coordinate the event year after year to promote sportsmanship and overall fun - students on scooters while playing football!
UGL also held its first ever pep rally that afternoon to celebrate the Scooter Bowl players but to also promote the school's Code of Conduct to ensure that all of the students were well behaved that evening. Teachers Charlene Pappas and Christine Cemelli hosted the pep rally. Each class created a poster to bring to the rally and skits were performed by the student council showing good behavior.
