Elks host first Jeep & 4x4 show

West Milford. The local Elks Club hosted its first Jeep & 4X4 show to help area veterans at the lodge on Saturday.

The West Milford Elks 2236 Lodge hosted its first Highlands Jeep 4x4 & Truck Show on Saturday.

There were more than 25 old and new Jeeps, buggys, and trucks on display at the Union Valley Road lodge.

This event was hosted by the West Milford Elks, and Wheelers for the Wounded New Jersey.

“This is the first one and it’s a great success,” Chairman of the Elks Veterans Committee Stu Feldman said. “This event will help benefit wounded veterans, along with homeless and addicted veterans.”

The Cowboy & The Hippie band played all afternoon for the participants and spectators.

“I was just driving by and noticed all the great looking jeeps and trucks and I had to stop," attendee Peter Shewchuck Jr., of Wayne, said, "It was a unplanned fun afternoon.“

Navy Veteran Willy Dittmar, 73, of West Milford, was there with his 3-year-old grandson, Bryce Stephenson.

“He loves looking at big jeeps and trucks," Dittmar said. "He can’t get enough of this stuff.”

Shortly after lunch was served, the Elks Americanism Committee held an American Flag Memorial Service.

The event concluded with the award for Best in Show, presented to a 2000 Jeep Cherokee with jeep trailer owned by Nikki Scaparro of Vernon.
