WEST MILFORD - The West Milford Township Library invites area seniors to share their stories in four weekly writing workshops this winter.
The workshops are scheduled during four consecutive Saturdays—Jan. 19, Jan. 26, Feb. 2 and Feb. 9.
Local author N. West Moss will be the guide from 9-11 a.m. to show participants hown to write and shape their family stories to share with the people they love.
The class members will do writing exercises together, interview one another, discuss the craft of writing, read one another's stories, and polish them up together.
Members will then have the opportunity to invite family and friends to a reading on Feb. 16.
N. West Moss is a West Milford resident, and teaches at Montclair State University and at Gotham in New York City.
Her first book of short stories, "The Subway Stops at Bryant Park," was published by Leapfrog Press in 2017, and her illness memoir, "Fruitless," is being shopped around now by her agent.
She is at work on a young adult novel and a book of medical themed essays.
Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Saturday Evening Post, and elsewhere.
She has an MA in English Education, an MFA in Creative Writing, and is currently enrolled in Columbia University's Narrative Medicine program.
She is also the winner of three Faulkner-Wisdom gold medals (short story, essay, and narrative non-fiction) and is also the winner of The Great American Fiction Contest from The Saturday Evening Post.
Registration for this free program is required, and is limited to 10, so the library requests that you register only if you are able to attend all workshop sessions.
