Ashley Rogosich of Hewitt is used to playing in the dirt. This West Milford High School junior has been driving the #15 and #15abc Slingshot Race Car by Tobias dirt track cars for two years now and loves every minute of it.

During her first year of racing, she ran in the Junior Slingshot class at Orange County (N.Y.) Fair Speedway's Short Track, finishing in second and fifth place. She also ran at Oakland Valley Speedway, finishing in fifth overall for the year, and at Accord Speedway (N.Y.), finishing second in points, just two points away from the track champion.

This season, the 16-year-old stepped up her game and ran in the All Star Slingshot class, competing with mostly adults. She placed 10th at Accord Speedway. Ashley also competed in the Empire Tour Race and is currently in eighth place with one race left in the tour.

Ashley races for Rogosich Motorsports LLC. With the help of her family, friends and local sponsors including: Rice Company LLC of Hewitt, DeMarco's Pizzeria of Hewitt, Piekarsky Orthodontics of Oak Ridge, TNT Transmission & Auto of Bloomingdale, Kitchens & Baths by John of Vernon, and Mills Vinyl of Hyde Park, N.Y.

After every race night, Ashley is in charge of removing each panel and power washing the entire car and reassembling it, along with changing the oil in her car. She works alongside her dad, Anthony, after every race to discuss any changes that need to be made to the car's set up.

Ashley was at the DeMarco's Pizza tent at this weekend's Autumn Lights Festival.
