The Greenwood Lake Commission is asking residents to contact members of the State Legislature to support State Assembly and Senate bills that would secure some $500,000 in funding, according to the commission.

In a press release this week, the commission asks members of the public to help promote bill, A-3804/ S-2167 heard in Appropriations Committee, at its next meeting.

According to the commission, Greenwood Lake supplies water to over 3 million residents and thousands of businesses, and most likely, the water local families depend on every day.

The commission has never been funded since legislated into law in 2001/2002, being one of New Jersey’s most important bodies of water, the release said.

It hopes that calls to assembly members to support the bills will help make sure it is heard in committee and then approved.

The $500,000 is for the purpose of protecting the natural, scenic, economic, and recreational resources of the lake, the commission said.

The commission asks to contact the following assembly members; Ass. Coughlin (732) 855-7441, Ass. Burzichelli (856) 251-9801, Ass. Schaer (973) 249-3665, Ass. Conaway (856) 461-3997, Ass. DeAngelo (609) 631-7501, Ass. Mosquera (856) 232-6700, Ass. Pintor Marin (973) 589-0713, Ass. Tucker (973) 926-4320, Ass. Peters (609) 667-7360, Ass. Rooney (973) 237-1362, Ass. Webber (973) 917-3420, Ass. Wirths (973) 300-0200, Ass. Pinkin (732) 548-1406, Ass. McKeon (973) 377-1606, Ass. Giblin (973) 779-3125, and Ass. DeCroce (862) 701-5156.
