West Milford Library hosting summer events

The library is scheduling a variety of events during the summer to keep residents active.
Art workshop for adults
Express yourself by creating intricate designs in a Zentangle-inspired workshop with John Caillie.
A teacher of Visual Arts at the Macopin Middle School, Caillie has taught for over 20 years in the West Milford Township District and holds a B.A. in Art Education from William Paterson University.
Two sessions are available.
Choose either Tuesday, July 16 or Tuesday July 30 from 6:30 - 8 p.m.
No experience is needed, and all materials will be supplied at the class.
Registration is required and limited to 15 per class.

All-day drop–in crafts for teens
On Saturday, July 13, teens are invited to drop by the West Milford Township Library's Young Adult section anytime from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and make some quick and easy crafts to take home. Everything you need is ready for you to DIY. No special skills are required.

Join West Milford Township Library summer reading club and win prizes for reading
Readers of all ages are invited to explore West Milford Township Library's Summer Reading Club, A Universe of Stories, launching on Monday, July 1.
Track your reading time on weekly mission tickets, available at the Adult or Children's Services desks, and turn them in to get weekly prizes.
Complete your mission by turning all tickets in no later than Sunday, Aug. 11.
On Sunday, Aug. 18 at 2 p.m., all summer readers are invited to our end-of-summer party, with music by Kurt Gallagher, ice cream treats courtesy of the Friends of West Milford Township Library, and out-of-this-world door prizes.
Five Grand Prize winners will each receive a set of five passes to the American Museum of Natural History, including the Hayden Planetarium.

Shrek interactive movie and cosplay for teens
Teens are invited to visit the West Milford Township Library dressed as their favorite fairytale character from the animated movie Shrek on Friday, July 26 from 7-9 p.m.
Embrace your inner ogre as you laugh, applaud and act appropriately reverent during the on-screen adventures of Shrek, Fiona and Donkey.
Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes and refreshments will be available at the Swamp Café.
No registration is required for this free event, which will be located on the second floor of the new West Milford Township Library and Community Center at 1490 Union Valley Road.

Op-Art workshop for teens
Teens are invited to West Milford Township Library to learn how to create fascinating optical illusions with pencil and paper in an Op-Art workshop taught by John Caillie, Macopin School's Visual Arts Teacher.
Caillie has been teaching Visual Arts for over 20 years in the West Milford Township District and holds a B.A. in Art Education from William Paterson University.
Choose one of two workshop sessions, either July 17 from 3-4:30 p.m. or Aug. 8 from 2-3:30 p.m.
No experience is necessary and all tools and materials are supplied.

Gentle Yoga with Michelle
On Tuesday, July 23 and Tuesday, Aug. 27, West Milford Township Library invites you to let go of stress and find strength, balance, and joy with gentle yoga classes led by Michelle Brook, a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher certified by the American Yoga Academy.
Michelle's classes run from 6:30-7:45 p.m.
Bring your mat or a thick towel, and other props if you have them.
There will be mats available to borrow.
Registration and completion of the required waiver form is required.
Registration is limited to 15 per class.

Creative writing workshop
West Milford Township Library invites writers of all levels to a creative writing workshop with local author N. West Moss.
If you are a beginner or a seasoned pro, join us on Thursday, July 18 from 1-4 p.m. to have fun and learn some new tips and tricks to get yourself writing.
Bring a pad and a pen, and plan to spend three hours reading together, doing writing prompts together, and then sharing your work.
N. West Moss has an MA in Education, an MFA in Creative Writing, and a CPA in Narrative Medicine.
She teaches creative writing at Montclair State University and at Gotham in New York City.
Her first book of short stories, The Subway Stops at Bryant Park, was published in 2017.
Her work has been published in The Saturday Evening Post, The New York Times, and elsewhere.
She is the winner of three Faulkner-Wisdom gold medals (short story, essay, and narrative non-fiction) and is also the winner of The Great American Fiction Contest from The Saturday Evening Post.
