Alice Jane Zis of Florida, N.Y., entered into rest on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021. She was 92 years old.
The daughter of James J. McSherry and Laurette Duffy McSherry, she was born Nov. 6, 1928, in Brooklyn.
Survivors include her sons Nicholas P. Zis and wife Cheryl and Christopher Zis and Thomas Zis and wife AnnMarie; grandchildren: Kimberly Cretaro and husband Jordan, Andrew Zis and wife Brittany, and Rebecca Zis and fiancé Brett Jackson; great grandchildren Jacob and James Cretaro and Russell Zis; sister Ann McSherry; brother-in-law Robert Zis; along with several nieces and nephews.
Mom had an alter ego. For 64 years they were always known as Alice and Nick until he left us in 2018. They were inseparable except for Dad’s Saturday grocery journeys across Orange County in search of the cheapest prices. We will mourn her lose but rejoice that once again it’s Alice and Nick.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sharfenberger and staff for their compassionate care, the wonderful Denice Jones who cared for Mom when dad passed. Sue and John Ferrogari, Diana and John Lupinski who where always there at a moment’s notice, Joe Raniere who would stop by to chat.
The family would have been lost without the care provided by two wonderful sisters Kathy Torro and Donna Dolan, you made her last year so much more enjoyable. She loved you both.
Daughter-in-law Cheryl, the daughter she never had, you will never know how much she loved you and finally her son Chris who cared for Mom and Dad day in and day out.
She was predeceased by her husband Nicholas Zis and brother James McSherry.
A Funeral Mass was held Jan. 23 at St. Stephen the First Martyr, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick.
Cremation will be held privately and burial will take place at the convenience of the family at a later date.
