Bruce J. Myer, Sr,

    Bruce J. Myer, Sr, of Newfoundland, passed away at his home on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014. He was 70.

    Bruce was born on March 31, 1943 in Jersey City, to Carolyn (nee O’Callahan) and George Myer. Bruce married Joan Paterno in 1964 and together they raised their family in Newfoundland.

    Bruce was employed for many years as a maintenance supervisor at Bayer Healthcare in Morristown, Belle Mead in Roseland, and Hoffmann LaRoche in Nutley.

    He proudly served for 15 years as a member of the Community Fire House on Route 23 in Newfoundland.

    Bruce will best be remembered for being a great inspiration to his grandchildren.

    Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Joan, of almost 50 years, his children, Deborah Myer-Miller of New Jersey, Bruce Myer of Wind Gap, Pa., and Dawn Myer-Solter and her husband Kenneth of Wayne, his cherished grandchildren: Alyssa, Mark, and Michael Miller, Carina Myer, and Fiona and Quinn Solter, and his brother Eugene Myer of Lake Placid, N.Y.

    He was predeceased by his brother Fred Myer in 1983.

    A wake and prayer service was previously held at Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, Newfoundland.
