Chester F. Lukawski

Chester F. Lukawski of Newton, N.J., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 5, 2021. He was 92.

Chester was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Augustow, Poland. He came to America on July 4, 1949, and become a proud United States citizen. Chester was a longtime resident of Newark, N.J., prior to Sussex County; where he resided in Lafayette, N.J., and Wantage, N.J., before moving to Newton.

In his younger years, Chester enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and tinkering around his house. He was employed by Ciba-Geigy Corporation of West Caldwell for 29 years prior to his retirement. Chester was a former member of the Sandyston Senior Citizens and attended Newton Covenant Reformed Church in Newton.

Chester was predeceased by his parents, Tomas and Wanda ( Witkowska ) Lukawski; and his beloved wife of 70 years, Grace A Stancel Lukawski on May 30, 2021.

He is survived by his son, Dennis Lukawski; daughter, Deborah Dickson; son, Jeffery T. Lukawski; as well as seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services and burial in Tranquility Cemetery was to be held privately under the direction of the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, Newton.
