Ella Jean Kelly

    Ella Jean Kelly, a longtime resident of Harrison, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2020. She was 93 years old.

    The daughter of Frank and Ella M. Carr Kelly, she was born in Goshen on June 21, 1926.

    Jean received her teaching degree from Susquehanna University. She moved to Harrison, where she was a longtime elementary teacher, and later librarian with the Harrison Central School District.

    She also served for many years as the historian for the Westchester Historical Society.

    She had a reputation as a very intelligent and independent woman.

    She was predeceased by her sister Mary Virginia Kelley of Goshen and by her cousin Mary O’Malley Verbert of Warwick.

    She is survived by cousins Mary Alice Cahill, Michael Verbert and Thomas Verbert.

    Due to restrictions on public gatherings, private graveside services were held at St. Stephen’s Cemetery.
