Richard B. O'Neil passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 25.
Beloved husband of Mary (Hoffman) O’Neill. Born in Jersey City, he was the son of the late Arnold and Jennie (Cropsey) O’Neill and has been a resident of West Milford for the past 41 years moving here from Jersey City.
Richard had been employed by the Jersey City Fire Department and had attained the rank of Fire Captain.
He was a gentle man of faith and love for everyone, and was loved by all who knew him.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Richard of West Milford and Sean (companion, Beth DeFranco) of Kinnelon, and one sister, Diane Barba of New Brunswick.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 28 at Richards Funeral Home, 1440 Union Valley Road in West Milford, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
A private burial is scheduled.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis TN 38105-9959.
