William Arthur Clear passed away on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, after a short illness.
Son of the late Arthur and Margaret Clear, William was a resident of Sparta, N.J., for the past 43 years.
William was born in Netcong, N.J., and graduated from Netcong High School. He graduated from Northeastern University in 1966 with a degree in engineering. William spent his entire 45 year career at Picatinny Arsenal in research and development.
William is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy; his sons, David and wife, Yolanda, Michael and wife, Clare, Kevin and wife, Karen, and daughter Christine. He was a loving grandfather to Peter, Patrick, Meghan, Natalie, and Justin.
He was predeceased by his brother Richard and is survived by his sister Barbara.
William was active in the community. He was president of the Alpine Association, treasurer of Scout Troop 150, and volunteered regularly at Manna House. He loved reading, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Visitation was held Dec. 6 Goble Funeral Home, Sparta. A funeral mass was held Dec. 7 at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Sparta. Interment will follow at Sparta Cemetery.
