Nick Salleroli and Sean Rodriguez are the township’s two newest Eagle Scouts from Troop 159 in Hewitt.

The pair were awarded the highest rank in Scouting during a Court of Honor at the Our Lady Queen of Peace School in Hewitt Saturday afternoon.

Both are now among the less than four percent of Scouts to attain the highest rank in the organization.

Friends, family, fellow scouts, and local officials joined the two to celebrate the accomplishment.

Mayor Michele Dale and Councilman-elect Kevin Goodsir also attended the ceremony, with Dale presenting each of the scouts with a plaque.

In addition to earning a required number of merit badges showing specific skills, each of the Scouts had to complete a community service project.

Nick moved and renovated the playground at the school, while Sean built an outdoor cooking station at the high school’s turf field.

The father of each scout, Nick Salleroli, Sr., and Steve Rodriguez, took part in the ceremony by pinning the Eagle pin on their sons.
