The New York Rangers Alumni will hold a benefit game play and support a good cause.
On Sunday, March 11, at 3:30 p.m., the Monarchs will host members of the New York Rangers Alumni Association at a benefit game at Skylands Ice World (www.skylandsiceworldnj.com) in Stockholm, NJ.
According to Monarchs’ wesbiste, "The Monarchs are a nonprofit collaborative initiative to enable participation in organized youth sports programs with a focus on teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play through access to facilities and equipment, player and coaching development and mentoring. The Monarchs children develop positive self-esteem and learn skills to help them lead healthy, successful lives."
At the event in March, this is the first time the Rangers Alumni will play in New Jersey. Past events have included Rangers alum Adam Graves, Ron Duguay, Colton Orr, Stephane Matteau, Rod Gilbert and many more.
The Monarchs run several programs for special needs athletes, including "Learn to Skate," "Special Hockey" and "Sled Hockey."
Skylands Ice World makes its facilities available to the team, which draws members from all over, including West Milford.
Due to the high cost of facilities and equipment, they rely on the help of the public to help make this sport available to anyone who wishes to participate.
The benefit game is organized through the efforts of three Maple Road School parents, Jason Lombardo, Jen Rose and Kevin Kensicki.
