Lifelong West Milford resident Robert "Robbie" B. Wundrack died on Sunday, Sept. 10 while assisting with Hurricane Irma relief efforts in Florida.
Robert, 40, leaves behind his wife Jodi and their two young daughters, Jasmine and Brianna. He was a graduate of West Milford High School and well known in the community.
“They (Robert and Jodi) are both so civic minded and involved and give freely of themselves,” reads a GoFundMe online campaign page setup to raise money for funeral costs. “The costs of raising the girls on her own will surely be huge and as a community, this family needs our support. Please consider donating. No amount is too small and anything will be appreciated.”
As of Thursday, the online campaign had already raised over $19,000.
Mark Wundrack posted a tribute to his brother on Facebook: “Brother, you were always the light of the day to me and some many others.”
“You are a true legend and legends never die,” Mark continued. “I love you big brother.”
Many other friends and loved ones left messages of their memories of Robert and condolences to the family online.
“It is with such a heavy heart we say goodbye to such a special, beautiful man,” Diane Fisher wrote on the funeral home’s website. “We admired Robbie for his open warmth, his deep love for his girls, nieces and nephew, his dedication to family and friends and passion for life.
“He loved with his whole heart and made sure you knew it; always supportive when someone was in need,” the post continued. “It is an honor to have been part of his life and will remember that smile every time we think of him.”
A visitation will be help at Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home this Saturday, Sept. 16 from 3 to 7 p.m. A prayer service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. at the same funeral home.
The Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home is located at 187 La Rue Road, Newfoundland parallel to Route 23 North between Clinton Road and Union Valley Road.
