U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) hosted a call with Fifth District superintendents and educators to discuss the first few weeks back to school and how school districts are managing COVID-19 protocols and the return to full-time in-person learning.

“As we return to in-person learning, schools are facing challenges with the COVID-19 Delta variant, the impacts that remote learning and the pandemic have had on students’ mental health, and, now, flooding and damage from Hurricane Ida,” Gottheimer said in the press release detailing the conversation. “Despite these major challenges, our school superintendents and educators across North Jersey are doing a great job as students get back to school, and I’m here to support and assist however I can — the success of our students is our top priority.”

Gottheimer was joined by school leaders from 18 school districts, including, Emerson, Bergenfield, Northern Highlands Regional, Ho Ho Kus, Closter, Oakland, Franklin Lakes, Rochelle Park, Teaneck, Wyckoff, New Milford, Pascack Hills High School, Ringwood, Newton, Stillwater, Vernon, Sussex-Wantage and Belvidere.

Superintendents and school leaders from across the Fifth District joined the call to discuss the return to in-person learning and ongoing efforts to protect students and educators from the COVID-19 pandemic.
