WEST MILFORD-An ordinance to replace the township zoning map with a GIS Parcel Layer Map was adopted at the June 16 Town Council meeting. The GIS Map uses a high-tech global positioning satellite for more accurate mapping. The map ordinance was unopposed. A resolution to develop a lake restoration plan for Greenwood Lake also was passed. The plan is expected to reduce pollutants adversely affecting the lake, and to address overall water quality in the Greenwood Lake Watershed. The plan was recommended by the Greenwood Lake Bi-state Commission and the Greenwood Lake Watershed Management District. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Agency will fund the project through a Section 319(h) grant for $152,000 with a total in-kind match of $48,000 consisting of $14,000 from the township and $31,000 from the bi-state commission. The public hearing on the adoption of the new township administrative code scheduled for June 16 has, once again, been put on hold. The council has rescheduled the hearing for July 7.
