West Milford. A domestic violence incident Tuesday escalated to attempted murder and other charges for a 70-year-old township man, police said.
Police charged Charles D. Tremblay, 70, of the Lindy Lake community, with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, illegal possession of a handgun, aggravated assault by pointing a weapon and two counts of making terroristic threats during the incident.
According to police, officers responded to a 911 call in the Lindy Lake community at 11:50 a.m. Nov. 12 for a domestic violence incident.
Police said a firearm was discharged during the incident and Tremblay was arrested and charged with several crimes.
Due to the nature of the case, police could not release additional details of the incident.
The case was referred to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, and Tremblay remains in custody awaiting his first court appearance, police said.
