West Milford Police received a 9-1-1 call Tuesday, Dec. 15, at about 8:45 p.m. from a passing motorist of a house fire located at 1413 Macopin Road.
Initial responding officers and firefighters arrived on scene to find the single-family house fully involved.
The amount of heavy fire and falling winter temperatures led to a request for all six West Milford Fire Companies, two units from West Milford First Aid Squad and mutual aid fire companies from Ringwood, Bloomingdale, Wanaque, Pompton Lakes, Kinnelon and Highland Lakes.
The fire was placed under control at approximately 11:07 p.m.
The severely damaged structure displaced three people.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the West Milford Fire Marshall, West Milford Police Fire Investigator and Passaic County Prosecutor’s Arson Investigation Unit.
