Police Dept. and does not represent the entire scope of activity for the time period. However, in the spirit of transparency, the Police Dept. strives to release all information that can be released without compromising ongoing investigations or causing unnecessary harm to victims.

    DWI
    On February 4, 2019 at approximately 2:00 AM, West Milford Police Officer Jonathan Bregman responded to the area of 120 Morsetown Road on a report of an accident.
    Upon his arrival he located a vehicle off the roadway and into a wooded area.
    The driver was located and identified as 19 year old Anothny Pampena of West Milford.
    While speaking with the driver, the officer detected signs of alcohol intoxication.
    The driver exhibited injuries and was transported to Chilton Hospital to seek medical assistance.
    At the hospital the driver refused to provide samples of his blood or urine.
    The accused was issued summonses for DWI, underage DWI, refusal to provide samples, open container, reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane.
    DWI
    On February 5, 2019 at approximately 11:30 PM the West Milford Police Department received two separate calls of a possible intoxicated driver entering the town on Route 23 North.
    Both callers gave the same description of the suspect vehicle.
    Officer Lewis Rose located the vehicle and after following it for a short distance he conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 23 North near Doremus Road. The officer identified the driver as 47 year old Kim Warno, of Hopatcong, NJ.
    The driver exhibited signs of impairment and after failing her sobriety tests, she was placed under arrest for DWI.
    She was transported to police headquarters where she was issued summonses for DWI, careless driving, and failing to obtain a state driver’s license after 60 days.
    She was released the following day after satisfying the requirements under John’s Law with a future court date pending.
    False Information Arrest
    On February 7, 2019 at approximately 2:15 PM West Milford Police Officer Kevin Canova observed a vehicle being operated on Route 23 South in the area of Echo Lake Road without an inspection sticker.
    The driver was stopped and provided his insurance and registration but no driver’s license.
    The driver provided a name however the officer was unable to find a driver’s license with the name provided by the driver.
    The driver was ultimately identified as 55 year old Fredric Splieth, of Vernon, NJ.
    He was arrested and charged with obstruction of the law and issued summonses for failure to inspect, unlicensed driver and driving while suspended.
    He was released pending a future court date.
    DWI
    On February 9, 2019 at approximately 10:48 PM West Milford Police were alerted to a possible drunk driver on Macopin Road.
    The caller gave a description of the vehicle and observed the driver strike a street sign and continued driving.
    Officer Dennis Welch was able to perform a motor vehicle stop on the driver who was identified as 43-year-old Anthony Caravella of West Milford.
    The officer detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
    The driver was asked to exit the vehicle and perform sobriety tests.
    After failing the tests the driver was placed under arrest for DWI and possession of marijuana.
    He was transported to police headquarters and processed before being released to a friend.
    He was charged with DWI, possession of marijuana, driving while suspended, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and several other motor vehicle violations.
    CDS Arrest
    On February 7, 2019 at approximately 7:30 Pm West Milford Detectives were conducting surveillance in the parking lot of a local establishment due to reported illegal drug activity.
    Detectives observed a vehicle park and idle for about 15 minutes with the driver seated in the vehicle.
    Eventually another person came and got into the front passengers seat.
    After a short while detectives approached the vehicle and observed in plain sight a large amount of cash along with suspected illegal drugs.
    The occupants were removed from the vehicle and the owner of the vehicle was identified as 21 year old Tanner Barnett of Parsippany, NJ.
    Confiscated from the vehicle were 29 packets of THC “wax”, 55 THC oil “pens”, a canister of marijuana and $1000 cash.
    The accused was charged and released on a summons to await his first CJP hearing.
    DWI
    On February 17, 2019 at approximately 4:00 AM West Milford Police were notified of a person passed out in front of Shoprite in a vehicle with the vehicle running.
    Officer Anthony Frassa responded and found the vehicle in question stopped in the lane of travel with the driver not responding.
    The driver eventually woke up and rolled down the window.
    The driver was identified as 24-year-old Samantha Browne of West Milford.
    The driver exhibited signs of intoxication and after failing her sobriety tests she was placed under arrest for DWI.
    She was transported to headquarters and processed.
    The accused was issued summonses for DWI, improper parking, unregistered vehicle and failure to produce documentation.
    She was released to a family member to await her first court appearance.
    DWI
    On February 17, 2019 at approximately 7:45 PM West Milford Officer Thomas Connors responded to the Old School Pub on a report of a motor vehicle accident in the parking lot.
    Upon his arrival the officer located the person responsible for backing into a parked vehicle.
    That person was identified as 65-year-old Imrli Ramadani of Hewitt, NJ.
    The accused exhibited signs of intoxication and after failing his sobriety tests was placed under arrest for DWI.
    He was transported to police headquarters and processed.
    The accused was charged with DWI, refusal to submit breath tests and careless driving.
    He was released to a friend and is awaiting his first court date.
    Assault Arrest
    On February 28, 2019 at approximately 11:00 PM West Milford Police received a report from an Uber driver who stated his fare had just assaulted him while driving on Clinton Road.
    West Milford Police Officer’s William Pittelko and James Fulton located the 70-year-old victim.
    Officer observed bite marks to the victims nose, face and hands.
    There were other signs of injuries to him as well.
    The fare was located walking a short distance away and was identified as 38-year-old Dale Sansone of West Milford.
    The fare was found to be highly intoxicated, belligerent and uncooperative.
    She was placed under arrest for assault and criminal mischief for damage to the drivers vehicle.
    She was eventually transported to Chilton Hospital for treatment for injuries she sustained from jumping out of the moving vehicle. She has a future municipal court date pending.

During the period, February 1st-28th 2019, The West Milford Police Department responded to 1220 calls for service.
