Police Dept. and does not represent the entire scope of activity for the time period. However, in the spirit of transparency, the Police Dept. strives to release all information that can be released without compromising ongoing investigations or causing unnecessary harm to victims.

    CDS Arrest
    On March 1, 2019 at approximately 11:50 AM West Milford Police Officer Kevin Canova observed a vehicle travelling on Route 23 North with several equipment violations.
    He conducted a motor vehicle stop near Paradise Road and as he was speaking with the driver he detected the odor of raw marijuana coming from within the vehicle.
    After speaking with both the driver and the passenger, the marijuana was located under the passenger’s seat.
    The front passenger admitted it was his and he was identified as 28-year-old Cristian Pibaque of Jersey City, NJ.
    He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters to be processed.
    The driver was issued summonses for unclear plates, improper window tinting and failure to inspect, she was released at the scene.
    While processing the accused, it was discovered he had a warrant for his arrest out of Pa.
    He was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and being a fugitive from justice. He was transported to Passaic County Jail to await extradition to Pa.
    DWI
    On March 1, 2019 at approximately 11:30 PM West Milford Police Officer Charles McQuaid observed a vehicle travel off the roadway and into the snow as it rounded the turn from Macopin Road and onto Westbrook Road.
    The officer made a u-turn and began following the vehicle.
    After observing the driver have difficulty maintaining his lane of travel the officer conducted a motor vehicle stop.
    The driver was identified as 68-year-old Bruce Kohan of West Milford.
    The officer detected signs of intoxication from the driver and after failing his sobriety tests he was placed under arrest for DWI.
    He was transported to police headquarters and processed. He was issued summonses for DWI and failure to drive within a single lane. He was released to a family member and is awaiting his first court appearance.
    DWI
    On March 9, 2019 at approximately 2:00 AM West Milford Police Officer James McMahon observed a vehicle fail to stop for a red light at the intersection of Lake Shore Drive and Warwick Turnpike.
    The officer followed the vehicle down Warwick Turnpike observing the vehicle drift over the double yellow lines several times.
    A motor vehicle stop was initiated and the driver stopped near the intersection of White Road and Union Valley Road.
    The officer identified the driver as 24-year-old West Milford resident Shane Conlon.
    While speaking with the driver the officer observed signs of intoxication.
    After failing his sobriety tests the driver was placed under arrest for DWI. He was transported to police headquarters for processing.
    The driver was issued summonses for DWI, disregard of marked lanes, failure to observe traffic signal and failure to keep to the right side of road. He was released to a friend and is awaiting his first court appearance.
    DWI
    On March 15, 2019 at approximately 1:55 PM West Milford Police conducted a welfare check on a resident who turned out to be intoxicated at her home.
    Being that she was not a harm to herself or others officers warned her not to drive and left the residence.
    A short time later, police received a call that the person who officers had checked on and warned not to drive left her residence in her car and drove over the neighbors flower bed/lawn.
    While speaking with the neighbor, officers saw the woman drive onto the street the officers were on and turn around driving the other way.
    Officer Jonathan Bregman was able to conduct a motor vehicle stop on Upper High Crest Drive with the driver who was identified as 49-year-old MaryAnn Norczyk of West Milford.
    The driver was asked to step out of the vehicle to conduct sobriety tests which she failed.
    She was transported to police headquarters and charged with DWI, open container, no seatbelt, consumption in a motor vehicle and failure to signal. The accused was released to a friend and is awaiting her first court appearance.
    DWI
    On March 15, 2019 at approximately 7:55 PM West Milford Police Officer Kevin Canova was travelling on Route 23 South when he noticed a vehicle having difficulty maintaining its lane of travel.
    After following the vehicle for a short distance he stopped the driver near Echo Lake Road.
    He identified the driver as 54-year-old Newfoundland resident Lynda Cofield.
    After exhibiting signs of intoxication and failing her sobriety tests, the accused was placed under arrest for DWI.
    The accused was transported to police headquarters, processed and issued summonses for DWI, failure to maintain a lane and failure to exhibit documents. She was released to a friend and is awaiting her first court date.
    DWI
    On March 23, 2019 at approximately 3:00 AM, West Milford Police Officer Jill Brickman observed a vehicle having difficulty maintaining its lane of travel on Union Valley Road.
    After observing the vehicle for a short distance the officer stopped the driver on Bearfort Road.
    The driver was identified as 55-year-old Theodore Andreniuk of West Milford.
    After observing signs of intoxication the driver was asked to perform field sobriety tests which he failed. He was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing.
    The accused was charged with DWI, failure to keep to the right side of the road and failure to wear a seatbelt. He was released to a friend and is awaiting his first court date.
    DWI
    On March 25, 2019 at approximately 3:00 PM West Milford Police Officer James McMahon responded to Union Valley Road at the bridge construction on a report of an intoxicated driver attempting to drive thru the road closure.
    Upon his arrival, a Passaic County Sheriff’s Officer who was conducting traffic control at the construction site had already removed the keys from the drivers vehicle.
    The driver was identified as 67-year-old Brian Shand of Hewitt, NJ.
    After failing his sobriety tests the driver was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to police headquarters for processing.
    The accused was charged with DWI, failure to submit to breath samples, failure to comply with officers instructions, failure to observe a traffic control device and driving on a closed roadway.
    He was released to a relative and is awaiting his first court date.
    DWI
    On March 26, 2019 at approximately 1:50 PM, West Milford Police Officer James Fulton responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Union Valley Road near Larue Road.
    Upon the officers arrival, he observed that a Chevy Suburban had struck a telephone pole.
    The lone driver involved in the accident was identified as 21-year-old Maverick Burnette of Oakland, NJ.
    While conversing with the officer he exhibited signs of intoxication.
    After failing his sobriety tests he was placed under arrest for DWI.
    The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and issued summonses for DWI, reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane of travel. He was released to a family member and is awaiting his first court appearance.
    DWI
    On March 28, 2019 at approximately 12:40 PM, West Milford Police responded to Race Track Drive on a report of a vehicle that drove off the roadway and into someone’s yard.
    Minutes prior to this call, West Milford Police were alerted to a vehicle swerving while travelling north on Warwick Turnpike which matched the description of the vehicle involved in the accident.
    Officer Denis Welch arrived on the scene and observed the driver standing outside his vehicle and identified the driver as 21-year-old Jeromy Noce of Hewitt.
    While speaking with the driver, the officer noticed signs of impairment.
    After failing sobriety tests, the driver was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to police headquarters.
    The accused was then transported to St Joseph’s Hospital in Wayne, NJ after a warrant was issued to have the drivers blood drawn to determine impairment. The accused was then released to a friend and is awaiting his first court case.
