    The information contained in this Police Blotter has been compiled and released at the discretion of the West Milford Twp. Police Dept. and does not represent the entire scope of activity for the time period. However, in the spirit of transparency, the Police Dept. strives to release all information that can be released without compromising ongoing investigations or causing unnecessary harm to victims.

    DWI
    On May 14, 2019 at approximately 11:30 PM West Milford Police Officer Kevin Canova observed a vehicle in the wrong lane (heading south in the northbound lane) while stopped at the traffic light at Union Valley Road and Ridge Road. The officer stopped the car on Ridge Road and identified the driver as 70 year old Joan Krause of West Milford. While speaking to the driver, the officer detected signs of intoxication. After failing her sobriety tests the driver was placed under arrest for DWI. She was transported to police headquarters for processing. The driver was charged with DWI and disregard of marked lanes. She was released to a family member to await her first court appearance.

    CDS Arrest
    On May 17, 2019 at approximately 10:20 PM West Milford Police Officer Anthony Frassa was travelling north on Clinton Road when he passed a vehicle travelling southbound with its high beams activated. The officer turned his patrol vehicle around and stopped the car on Clinton Road at Route 23. The driver was identified as 19 year old Michael Kaps of Woodland Park, NJ. While speaking with the driver the officer detected signs of burnt marijuana coming from within the vehicle. A passenger, 19 year old Elizabeth Latorre of Woodland Park, NJ, turned over a small bag of marijuana. Also located inside the vehicle was a small bag of cocaine. Both parties were placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. They were charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of cocaine and possession of paraphernalia. They were charged on a summons and released to await their first court date.

    DWI
    Also on May 17th at 10:40 PM, while assisting Officer Frassa on his drug arrest on Clinton Road at Route 23, Officer Jill Brickman observed a vehicle travel toward their location while driving on its rim. After getting the vehicle to stop, the officer noticed vomit outside the drivers door. After a brief struggle with the driver, officers were able to place the driver under arrest based on observations of the driver. The driver was identified as 21 year old Connor Backes of Denville, NJ. He was transported to police headquarters for processing. The driver was charged with DWI, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and open container in a motor vehicle. He was released to a family member and is awaiting his first court date.

    MVA/DWI
    On May 20, 2019 at about 7:00 PM, West Milford Police responded to the intersection of Route 23 North and Old Route 23 on a report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon Officer Jason Healy’s arrival at the accident scene he observed two vehicles involved in the accident. The investigation revealed that a car was stopped at the red traffic light when it was sideswiped by another driver who failed to stop at the red traffic light. The driver that caused the accident was identified as 66 year old Joseph Ferrara of Sparta, NJ. While speaking with the accused the officer detected signs of intoxication and after failing his sobriety tests the accused was placed under arrest for DWI. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and issued summonses for DWI, careless driving and disregard of a traffic light. He was released to a friend to await his first court appearance.

    DWI
    On May 22, 2019 at approximately 9:30 PM West Milford Police Officer Thomas Connors responded to the area of Lakeside Road and Union Valley Road on a report of a dispute between two people. Upon the officers arrival he located the two parties involved in the dispute outside of a vehicle. It was determined that a male passenger in the vehicle engaged in an argument with the driver identified as 53 year old Paterson, NJ resident Diane Lomoro. The driver told the officer she had pulled off the road so the arguing would stop. While speaking with both parties, the officer detected signs of intoxication from the driver. After failing her sobriety tests the driver was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to police headquarters for processing. The accused was charged with DWI, Careless Driving, Improper parking and failure to submit to a breath test. She was released to a friend and is awaiting her first court appearance.

    DWI
    On May 24, 2019 at approximately 11:00 PM West Milford Police were notified of a possible intoxicated driver travelling on Macopin Road heading toward the center of town. After receiving a description of the vehicle Officer Thomas Connors located it turning abruptly on Union Valley Road from Macopin Road. After following the vehicle a short distance, the officer observed the driver having difficulty maintaining his lane of travel and for those reasons a motor vehicle stop was conducted. The driver was identified as 31 year old Ryan Fullam of Emerson, NJ. The driver showed signs of intoxication and was therefore asked to step out of the vehicle to conduct sobriety tests. After initially refusing to step out of the vehicle the driver eventually complied and refused any sobriety tests. He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. The accused refused to provide samples of his breath and he was charged with DWI, refusal to submit breath samples, failure to yield at intersection, failure to maintain a lane and reckless driving. He was released to a friend to await his first court appearance.

    DWI
    On May 24, 2019 at approximately 11:45 PM West Milford Police Officer Andrew Petrucelli responded to Wooley Road on a report of a vehicle that ran off the road and was stuck in the woods. Upon his arrival the officer located the vehicle with the driver attempting to dislodge the stuck truck. The driver stepped out of the truck and was identified as 49 year old James Stoddard of West Milford. While speaking with the officer he exhibited signs of intoxication and after failing his sobriety tests he was placed under arrest for DWI. He was transported to police headquarters for processing. He was charged with DWI and failure to maintain a lane of travel. He was released to a friend to await his first court date.

    DWI
    On May 26, 2019 at approximately 12:45 AM West Milford Police Officer Amy Antonucci responded to the intersection of Warwick Turnpike and White Road on a report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon the officers arrival to the one car accident she identified the driver of the car as 33 year old Michael Ziemba of Belvidere, NJ. While speaking with the driver he exhibited signs of intoxication and after failing his sobriety tests he was placed under arrest for DWI. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and charged with DWI. He was released to a friend to await his first court appearance.

    DWI
    On May 31, 2019 at approximately 9:10 PM West Milford Police responded to the Shoprite parking lot on the report of an accident. Upon Officer Rosario Domicolo’s arrival he located the drivers involved in the accident. While speaking with the one driver identified as 56 year old Jeffrey Legutko of Tuxedo, NY the officer detected signs of intoxication. The accused was asked to perform sobriety tests which he failed. He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. He was charged with DWI and careless driving. He was released to a family member to await his first court date.
